The sea side resort of Kamena vourla in Greece is where the Tarmac leg of the Mercedes-benz rally acropolis came to a finish. Irish crew Frank cunningham and Ross forde had a fantastic result amongst the best historic rally cars in Europe finishing 9th overall, 6th FIA and 2nd in class C3. The pair who are competing in the separate gravel event tomorrow put in some blistering times.
We really enjoyed the event over the last 2days and the stages are out of this world. We are already looking forward to next year. The car never missed a beat bar breaking the alternator braked and we clipped a rock on the flying finish of the last stage and broke a wheel and tire.
The boys at galway mini centre have prepared a fantastic car and it was a joy to mix times with porsches, lancia 037′s, Toyota celicas, escorts and kedettes to name a few. Says cunningham.
The lads are currently changing the car into gravel spec for tomorrows event so more updates tomorrow.
Final result 9th overall
